Christmas themed Biscuits!

This is a simple, quick and cheap activity with a delicious outcome. A perfect treat to take into work and keep your boss sweet or an activity for the children to enjoy on them cold, snowy days!

What you will need:

Everything can be bought from your local supermarket; ingredients and equipment to create these tasty treats. You can buy Christmas shaped cutters in most supermarket shops, we bought ours from Home Bargains for a fantastic £1.99, check them out here. In this pack, you get 6 shapes which are: Christmas tree, Angel, Bell, Snowman, Gingerbread Man and Shooting Star. These cutters can be washed and reused as much as you like.

To Bake:

  • 100g Unsalted Butter
  • 100g Caster Sugar
  • 275g Self-raising Flour (little bit extra to dust the side and rolling pin)
  • Vanilla Extract
  • 1 free-ranged Egg
  • Christmas Shaped Biscuit Cutters
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Tray
  • Grease proof paper

To Decorate:

  • Icing Pens

Or

  • Food colouring
  • Icing sugar

Step-by-Step Guide to Bake the Biscuits:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190oC and line a baking tray (or two) with grease proof paper.
  2. Mix the caster sugar and butter together until a pale colour.
  3. Wisk the egg in a separate bowl and add bit by bit with the Vanilla extract until fully mixed.
  4. Once fully mixed add the flour bit by bit until a dough mixture.
  5. Sprinkle the flour on your worktop and place the dough mixture on.
  6. Using the rolling pin spread evenly until about 1cm thick.
  7. Using your shape cutters place into the dough and then onto the baking tray.25397697_10210607811622559_1062150080_o
  8. Carry on until you have used all your dough mix (you will have to refold and roll out a few times).25400884_10210607811582558_1085623349_o.jpg
  9. Place your tray in the oven for 8-12 minutes (until they turn a golden colour).
  10. When a golden colour, remove from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
  11. Then you are ready to decorate your biscuits!

Step-by-Step Guide to Decorate the Biscuits:

For this step, you can either use ready-made icing pens from the store or follow the guide below to create your own coloured icing.

To create your own coloured icing, it is simple you just need to add 1 and a ½g of icing sugar to 1 tablespoon of water and add 2-3 drops of food colouring. You can add more food colouring to have a stronger colour depending on how much icing you have made. If you need more icing use the ratio of water to icing sugar until you have enough.

Now you are ready to decorate your biscuits how you like!

You could even buy edible glitter to sparkle things up.

Our First Attempt:

They don’t need to be perfect this is just a bit of fun and remember as long as they taste nice that’s all that matters!

Some of ours went a little too golden in the oven and we left ours for 11 minutes, but that just added an extra crunch! We aren’t professional biscuit decorators so we had a little bit of fun messing around creating these amateur designs! In total, it took us just short of two hours to bake and decorate but depending on how many you make this could pass a few hours.

To make it more festive why don’t you play a few Christmas songs whilst you bake!

Thank you for reading we would love to see your attempts and photographs.

T2: Choc Molten Marvel Tea☕️🍫

T2 have a wide selection of teas to choose from and as we were travelling to Leeds for the Christmas Markets we knew we had to stop here for a refill of our favourite flavour ‘Melbourne Breakfast’. When we visit, we love trying a few taster flavours and this one was given to use as soon as we walked through the doors and that’s when I knew it was the one to buy.

Choc Molten Marvel Tea:

This tea is a lovely mix of black tea leaves and chocolate flakes to create this delicious rich hot chocolate taste. To get a perfect flavour leave to brew for 2-4 minutes for 1 teaspoon of leaves and why not try a dash of milk for a ticker texture! Best part is you can purchase this flavour as tea leaves or teabags to suit all.

What We Thought:

This tea flavour is like a perfect mixture of tea and hot chocolate! It also has a slight tangy orange taste and a kick of Baileys to it and this makes it feel very festive, ready for Christmas. Don’t worry if you don’t like Baileys, neither do we but we love this flavour!

Why not try it out for yourself, here!

u may be a man and think the ‘cold won’t hurt’ but you are still human and your body works the same and the cold can cause some serious illnesses. No harm in wrapping up a little more in winter, male or female. Jumpers are a great start, styles to suit all types and can be styled in many ways and great for many occasions. Jumpers can be dressed up with smart jacket, casual with jeans and rolled up sleeves or even dressed down to be worn around the house with your lounge pants/joggers. 👖

23516373_10210396371376685_1360148853_o Footwear is important, they need to keep your feet warm and dry but also in fashion… Chelsea boots are perfect for this. You can find plenty of different styles in any high-street shop to suit all males. Can even wear thicker socks underneath and no one would know! These types of boots can be wore in any winter weather conditions and even keep you dry for splashing through puddles. 2017 Winter Essentials – For Her💁🏼💁🏿💁🏽

Ladies, are you ready for winter?!❄️

Whether you are or not this is worth a read to double check you’re ready or help you get prepared!

Winter is approaching fast; the dark nights have started and clocks have gone back but don’t worry reading this will only take 5 minutes and you will be ready to face the cold!

Winter is our favourite season of the year, a perfect excuse for cosy movies days and, of course girls, unlimited amounts of faux fur!

DSC_1395

First thing that is important at this time of the year is to wrap up warm, you don’t want to catch a cold! Jumpers are a great way to do this, you can get many styles to suit all. Thick or thin, patterned or plain and faux fur or cotton, something for everyone. At Christmas, you can go all out and get a Christmas themed jumper. Also, the main factor in keeping warm is to keep your feet warm and dry, sensible footwear is best but also thick, fluffy socks for around the house, under your boots or even in your wellies! Fluffy socks are like walking on carpets all day and thick to keep the heat in. 🙋🏼

Another important essential for winter is shoes, you need to prepare for the cold so grab yourself a pair of chunky souled boots and your toes will never feel the cold! You can ever wear some fluffy socks to keep your feet extra warm and toasty. Flip-flops and ballerina pumps aren’t going to keep your feet warm and dry during this season. Boots come in all sorts of styles from chunky heels to flat knee highs and will go with any outfit! Try knee high heeled boots for an evening and flat ankle boots and a pair of jeans during the day. 👢

23555388_10210396371696693_1499292990_o

We have sorted the base layer out now to focus on the top layer to keep you warm and dry for the winter weather. Pick a big coat and style with a range of accessories; scarfs, gloves, hat and much more. A big winter coat is vital to keep you warm and wrapped up from that bitter wind. Coats can come in many different materials, patterns, colours and styles from a puffer jacket to a faux fur coat. You can go crazy with accessories, from woolly hats to leather gloves or fur mittens! 🌂

Make sure you wrap up warm and be safe for your own health! Enjoy your winter. ❄️🍂
